In June 2013, up to thirty Houston ISD teachers will participate in an on-site historical seminar in American history as part of the U.S. Department of Education - HISD Texas Teachers Teaching American History Grant.
The selected teachers will participate in the on-site study of "Revolutions in American History" using museums, archives, and historical landmarks as the basis for their historical study.
The goals
of this study trip for HISD teachers are to increase the experiential
and content based knowledge about this critical topic in
American history and to explore ways to transfer this learning into HISD
classrooms. Teacher benefits include transportation, lodging, and food as well as entrance fees and related books and materials. Participants will research the field experiences and work collaboratively in groups to prepare and share materials.
